Die-cutting paper and card

We die-cut paper and cardboard with high precision — from labels and packaging materials to technical spacers and laminated paper composites. With our own tool shop and production facility in Bromma, we deliver clean cuts, minimal fraying and consistent quality, whether for a prototype run or ongoing production.

Formats and specifications

Types of paper we die-cut:

Uncoated paper, 80–350 g/m²
Coated paper (glossy, matt)
Cardboard up to approx. 1.5 mm thick
Corrugated cardboard (single- and double-wall)
Self-adhesive paper and labels (paper + liner)
Laminated paper composites (paper/film, paper/foil)
Siliconised paper (release liner)
FSC-certified paper (on request)

Format: From approximately 3×3 mm up to approximately 0.65×1.6 m, depending on the material and geometry.

Tolerances: Typically ±0.2–0.5 mm, depending on the size of the detail, the direction of the fibres and the type of paper. We optimise pressure, tool geometry and support to minimise flaking and fibre raising. Where necessary, we review critical dimensions and finalise the tolerance plan before production.

Edge quality: Clean cutting without fraying is one of the most common quality parameters in paper die-cutting. We adjust the die pressure and backing material (pad/backing) to suit the paper’s grain direction and surface finish.

Die-cutting or cutting paper — which method is best?

We offer both punching and cutting made of paper. The choice depends on the geometry, the volume and how quickly you need your parts.

Choose the punch when:

You need series with the same geometry — stamping results in a lower unit cost per part
The process is repeatable and you plan orders on an ongoing basis
Do you need die-cut labels or components on backing material in bulk?

Choose the cut when:

The shape is complex, with many details or internal cut-outs
You need prototypes quickly, without having to wait for moulds
This involves a one-off design

In many cases, we combine these methods: cutting prototypes for verification, followed by stamping in series production.

Common applications

The packaging industry

Die-cut packaging materials, window cut-outs in cardboard boxes, lids, spacers and inserts. We die-cut cardboard and corrugated board for packaging that requires precise dimensions and clean-cut edges.

Printing and the graphics industry

Die-cut materials, leaflets with die-cut windows, envelopes with cut-outs, labels and markings. We work with printing companies that require a die-cutting partner for short and medium-run print runs.

Labelling and marking

Self-adhesive paper labels and tags, die-cut using the kiss-cut method on a backing (sheet or roll). Ready to be picked and applied on your production or packaging line.

Technical applications

Paper and cardboard spacers, electrical insulation (crepe paper), laminated paper composites for protection and separation. We also die-cut siliconised paper (release liner) as a carrier material for other die-cut components.

Here’s how it works

1. Background information and advice Please send us your die line or drawing (PDF, DXF, CAD), specifying the paper type, grammage and required volume. We will suggest the appropriate method (die-cutting or cutting) and packaging.

2. Tools We design and manufacture the punching tool in-house — typically a steel-edged tool made from plywood. The tooling costs for paper die-cutting are relatively low.

3. Test drive We produce samples for your approval. We check the dimensions, edge quality and ensure that fraying/fibre protrusion remains within specification.

4. Production and delivery Mass production with documented quality control. Supplied as individual components or kiss-cut on sheets or rolls.

Kiss-cut — paper labels and details on backing material

We kiss-cut self-adhesive paper and labels in large volumes. The die-cutting tool cuts through the paper and the adhesive layer but leaves the underlying liner intact. The finished products are supplied on sheets or rolls, ready to be picked and applied.
